Senior Contractors Quantity Surveyor - (Progress to Board Level)

Our client is a long-established Essex based Construction Company, who carry out a broad spectrum of works from specialised works to churches and listed buildings to mainstream construction and insurance repairs.

They require an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to further strengthen their senior management team. It is expected that the correct candidate will aspire to rise to board level within 5 years.

Our client is a privately-owned Essex based contractor with an excellent reputation for quality.  They carry out work to listed buildings, high end residential and churches across Essex and into Suffolk, Kent, Hertfordshire and East, North and Central London. Their works are generally won in competitive tender or via direct negotiation, are up to £3M in value and are usually under JCT Contracts.

Applicants must have previous experience and proven track record in surveying and estimating at a senior level for a contractor.

Candidates should also:

  • Possess a high degree of commercial acumen.
  • Be very computer literate, have excellent Excel skills and used to helping to formulate and administer site and office procedures.
  • Be well versed in the JCT suite of main and sub-contracts and warranties.
  • Have excellent communication skills, be used to working as part of a friendly team and have the ability to nurture client and subcontractor relationships.
  • Be able to carry out some estimating during times of peak activity.
  • Be able to provide input into the estimating process on contractual and risk elements.
  • Be able to take both main and sub-contract accounts from analysis/tender adjudication, to order, to monthly valuations and final account.
  • Have the ability to advise, deal with and resolve contractual matters on main and sub-contracts.
  • Be used to working especially closely with Project and Site Managers in order to deliver profitable, quality work on time and budget.
  • Have a clean driving license - regular site visits will be needed.


Salary / package is negotiable and dependent on experience.
