Would you like to support individuals with learning disabilities and mental health needs to maintain their independence within their own home and access social activities within the local community?

We support both males and females who live on Canvey Island and in the Benfleet area and we are looking for committed, energetic, enthusiastic and caring support staff who can work days, nights and weekends on a flexible basis. We can offer a variety of shift patterns and enhanced rates for weekend and night work, as well as having "sleep in" overnight shifts available. Shifts are on average 5-8 hours in length, they are not short domiciliary type visits.

The individuals we support have varied needs, but live full and active lives. We are looking for staff that can provide support within the individuals homes to learn new skills and maintain their independence - including assisting with personal hygiene, shopping, preparing meals, housework and indoor activities. In addition you should be willing to support these individuals to access educational courses, visit the cinema, go to the pub or out for dinner, attend karaoke nights or discos, go swimming, bowling....the list is endless. Some individuals also need support to visit London and other places for the day to visit museums and the theatre etc.

Ideally we are looking for experienced support workers who can motivate and encourage the individuals we support, although we can consider people with transferable life skills and experiences who demonstrate the correct values and attitudes to care and support. We offer comprehensive training in all mandatory subject areas, as well as more specialized courses as required by the role. You will receive the support of an experienced office based team, 24 hour on call service and regular updates and supervision.

The ability to drive with access to your own car would be ideal, as many of the individuals we support require transport to access their activities. Previous experience of Downs Syndrome, Parkinson's, Epilepsy or mental health issues would also be an advantage.
